JLR Cyber Attack
Summary
Jaguar Land Rover has extended its production halt until 1 October 2025 following a significant cyber-attack that began in September 2025. This unprecedented disruption to the UK's largest vehicle manufacturer has created immediate and cascading security risks that directly impact fleet operators and insurers across the country. Whilst the government and JLR explore options, we have created this bulletin to draw attention to the impacts on our customers.
Production Disruption Effects:
- JLR produces 300,000 vehicles annually and is the UK's largest car maker
- Production suspension severely limits new vehicles coming off the production line.
- Production suspension severely limits availability of genuine replacement parts
- Extended downtime may continue beyond October, creating supply chain shortages
Impact of disruption
- Parts Scarcity: Limited availability of genuine JLR components increases black market demand
- Higher Vehicle Values: Reduced new vehicle supply drives up used vehicle valuations
- Target Vulnerability: JLR vehicles become premium theft targets due to parts shortage
- Supply Chain Exploitation: Criminal networks may exploit disrupted legitimate parts channels
For our fleet customers we are suggesting consideration is given to JLR vehicles in your fleet could be targeted by thieves for the vehicle as a whole or replacement parts.
- There may be spikes in unusual hires of JLR vehicles
- Consider additional alerting of geofencing protocols.
- Consider additional anti fraud pre rental procedures
- Are all JLR vehicles in your fleet currently tracked and monitored
